Description

In 2013, Studio MB was commissioned by the Kuwaiti Chief Council to design a new national museum and cultural center within the shell of the former Al Salam Palace, which was devastated after the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in 1990.

The 15,000 m2 restored, reimagined and redesigned palace offers 26 exhibition galleries within two immersive visitor experiences to tell the story of this unique building and Kuwait’s 300-year history through its 15 monarchs. An underground courtyard containing a series of temporary exhibition galleries, cafes, shops and education centers, a digital library complex and VIP reception facilities round out the offer.

Studio MB was the lead design team responsible for master planning, interpretive design, exhibition design, interior design, graphic design, creative direction of AV hardware, software and multimedia design, and content research.

Many lighting solutions are made by SOON Light & Project.
